Shenandoah woman killed in New Jersey crash

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, New Jersey – A Shenandoah woman was killed and another was injured in a crash early this morning on Interstate 78 in eastern New Jersey this morning, friends close to the situation confirmed.
The crash occurred around 5:00am Sunday near Interstate 78 mile marker 43.2 in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, when a vehicle occupied by two Shenandoah residents crashed.
According to Berkeley Heights Fire, the passenger, Emily Cooney, Shenandoah, was reportedly killed when the car struck a tree. Driver Alexis Nevadomsky, Shenandoah, was also injured, though her condition is unknown at this time.
Both had to be extricated via Jaws of Life.
Berkeley Heights fire could not confirm who was involved in the crash, though they noted Pennsylvania residents were involved.
Fire crews added the crash occurred in heavy rain conditions with an air temperature above freezing.
The New Jersey State Police is investigating the incident, though troopers could not be reached as of Sunday afternoon.
