Shen. Valley to recognize Students of the Month
SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah Valley will recognize its students of the month for November, December, and January at tonight’s school board meeting.
The school announced the three awardees Tuesday.
For November, the school selected Jacqueline Bubnis. She is involved in a wide variety of school activities, including the marching band, where she serves as president, student council, where she serves as president, and the drama club, where she serves in the same role.
She is also a member of the concert band, jazz band, county band, county chorus, volleyball, academic bowl, National Honor Society, where she serves as vice president, float committee, mini-THON committee, YES Program, talent search, gifted program, among others.
She is also class president.
In the community, she serves as stage manager for Schuylkill Free Shakespeare, and has assisted with DSI’s Christmas plays, and has performed in the pit band at the Majestic Theater in Pottsville, where she’s also served as stage manager, and has performed in the Christmas Choir at the First United Methodist Church in Frackville.
Her personal interests include listening to music, signing, reading, and theatre, and her future plans are to earn her bachelors degree in nursing and to becoming a nurse anesthetist.
For December, the school chose Megan Bell. She also is a member of the Shenandoah Valley concert, marching, and jazz bands, where she serves as treasurer. She is also an officer on Student Council (Co-vice president), National Honor Society (secretary), and Mini-THON committee (chairperson.) She also participated in academic bowl, county band, county chorus, track and field, Penn State Youth Council, and Float Committee.
In the community, she has served as a HOBY volunteer and as a 2019 Ambassador, and has been a Girl Scout for 13 years, and also an Assistant Troop Leader, She has also assisted with Kielbasi Fest and Heritage Day downtown.
Her personal interests include reading, dancing, being with her friends, finding new coffee shops, and cooking new recipes.
Her future plans are to attend college and major in history.
The student of the month for January was Kaitlyn Carduff. She also is a member of the marching, concert, and jazz band, serving as drum major and President. She is also an officer in Drama Club (Vice President), National Honors Society (President), Student Council (Treasurer), and the senior class (Vice President).
Carduff participated in academic bowl, county band, softball, float committee, Mini-THON, and the YES Program.
In the community, she assists with the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society basket auction, the William Penn Fire Co.’s pizza sales, “Run the Raven” race, and basket bingo, and the Shenandoah Area Girls Softball League’s travel tournaments.
Her personal interests include reading, spending time with friends, going on adventures, and playing video games with her brother, Austin.
Her future plans are to attend college, where she plans to decide a major as she attends.
