Shen. Valley students, staff recycling program a success
Sentinel Staff Reports
SHENANDOAH – The Shenandoah Valley students, faculty, and staff do their part to help the environment via recycling, and, as of June 4, about 6 tons of paper and plastic has been recycled by the district.
“At the Shenandoah Valley School District recycling isn’t just a topic of discussion, it is a practice that the students, faculty and employees utilize on a daily basis,” SV PR director Bob Yudinsky said in a media release.
The school has recycle bins in ever classroom, office, and work area where paper, cardobard, plastic, and other recyclables are collected, and a group of students collect the bins weekly, dumping them in a container provided by Waste Management.
According to the company, the district has recycled recycled 3.8 tons of paper, 2.4 tons of plastic, 0.6 tons of aluminum, 0.1 ton of glass and 5.1 tons of cardboard.
SV Principal Stuart Tripler and Facilities Director Dave Lukashunas coordinate the project.
