Shen. Valley hires first two police officers for new department
SHENANDOAH – The Shenandoah Valley School District approved hiring the first two officers for their new police force Monday.
At a short special meeting, the school board had two agenda items pertaining to the new force.
In one motion, the board gave authorization to district administration and Solicitor Robert Matta to “take steps required to create the Shenandoah Valley School District Police Department.”
In another, the district approved hiring two officers: John Hancock at a salary of $55,000 and John Buchinsky at a salary of $52,500.
Those hires are pending the receipt of certifications and new hire paperwork.
Also approved tonight were two expulsion hearing waivers for students, and the resignation of Brock Davidson, a third shift custodian, and the posting and advertising of that position.
