Quakake woman facing charges for assaulting man, biting teen in village

QUAKAKE – A woman is facing charges after Rush Township Police say she assaulted a 67-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy in the village of Quakake Tuesday.
Malayasia Whitaker, 44, of Quakake, is facing simple assault, child endangerment, and harassment charges for the incident, which occurred around 10:00pm Tuesday night.
Police were called to a home in the unit block of West Main Street in the village at that time, finding that she had assaulted a 67-year-old man and a 14-year-old. Charges were filed and a warrant was obtained for Whitaker, who turned herself in yesterday.
She was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $7,500 straight bail, and will have a preliminary hearing in the near future.
