PSP: Ex-NY man assaults girlfriend, flees to NY, comes back, runs again

ALTAMONT – A former Bronx man is in Schuylkill County Prison, accused of assaulting his girlfriend, fleeing the state, returning, and running again.

Starkyn Casalinova-Perez, 27, of 150 S. Spencer St., formerly 40 Richman Plaza, Bronx, New York, was charged by State Police in two criminal complaints with misdemeanor flight, simple assault, and summary harassment.

State Police Trooper Trevor Skripko filed the assault charge on Feb. 3, saying troopers were called to 150 S. Spencer around 9:35am that day for a reported domestic violence incident.

When troopers arrived, they noticed the victim had a swollen bruise on her forehead. She said that she and Casalinova-Perez were in a verbal argument which turned physical, at which point he struck her multiple times in the head and face before fleeing on foot.

Troopers could not find him in the neighborhood, but were able to call him by phone. He, troopers said, admitted to the verbal argument but denied any physicality and said he was on his way to New York and had no intention on turning himself in.

On Sunday, Trooper Matthew Hoke filed flight charges against Casalinova-Perez, saying they were called to 150 South Spencer again that day around 11am for a reported domestic incident.

When troopers arrived, Casalinova-Perez took off on foot, running onto Chestnut Street and into Back Alley. He stumbled down an embankment in a backyard and was taken into custody.

Hoke wrote that he asked Casalinova-Perez why he was running, and he told troopers he knew he had an active warrant.

Casalinova-Perez was arraigned on both complaints and committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $50,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 21 before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli.
