PSP: Borough man wouldn’t let motorist pass on Route 54, hits their car with machete instead
MAPLE HILL – A Shenandoah man is accused of hitting someone’s car with a machete in a road rage incident State Police say was sparked by a failed pass in a passing zone.
Amaury Bastardo Batista, 47, of Shenandoah, is facing charges of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief for the incident Thursday morning.
State Police said it happened along Route 54 near Maple Hill, just outside Shenandoah borough.
Troopers said they were called for a reported altercation in which Batista and a 47-year-old man were in an argument because Batista refused to allow the other motorist to pass in the passing zone near that location.
Both drivers pulled over, an argument ensued, and Batista, troopers said, gestured that he wanted to fight.
He then grabbed a machete from his vehicle and hit the roof of the other man’s car before leaving.
