Porch fire damages Grier City home

GRIER CITY – The quick arrival of a stand-by unit saved a Rush Township home when fire broke out Friday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to 197 Grier Avenue for the fire just before 5:00pm.
The first unit on scene was an engine from the Tuscarora Fire Company, which was stationed at the Ryan Township Fire Company on a stand-by assignment.

Ryan Township fire officials said that the fire started in a charcoal grill on the back porch, and, thanks to the quick response of Tuscarora, the fire was kept from spreading into the home.
No injuries were reported.
