SHENANDOAH – A driver is being evaluated by EMS after police said he struck a guiderail near Girardville and managed to drive his damaged SUV to Shenandoah before it caught fire.
Butler Township Police told the Sentinel at the scene Thursday that they were called for a vehicle accident on West Mahanoy Avenue in the township.
Officers said the vehicle fled the scene, but witnesses provided a description of the vehicle and pieces of it were left behind at the scene.
A Shenandoah police officer spotted the damaged Oldsmobile Bravada in town and stopped it in the 500 block of West Centre Street, where it briefly caught fire around 3pm.
