Police investigating body found near Mahanoy City

MAHANOY CITY – A heavy police presence was noted Friday evening on the Mahanoy City side of the Vulcan Hill, as local and state police investigated a body found.
Mahanoy Township Police and a State Police Forensic Services Unit were on scene at the intersection of Route 54 and East End Road just outside Mahanoy City between the borough and the village of Vulcan.
According to reports, a body was found in the woodlands near the intersection, though further details are few.
No roadways were closed Friday evening as a result of the investigation.
