Police: Borough man led police on pursuit home

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - The scene where a police pursuit from Ringtown came to an end on Shenandoah's west end Friday night.

SHENANDOAH – A police pursuit Friday night led straight to the fleeing suspect’s home on the west end, Ringtown Police said.

Ringtown Police Officer Doug Litwhiler said they tried to stop a Ford Taurus at East Main and 4th Streets in Ringtown for a traffic violation, when the vehicle took off.

The Taurus fled via 4th Street, Brandonville Road, Cemetery Hill Road, Pattersonville Road, and Krebs Road before getting onto Ringtown Boulevard towards Shenandoah.

In Shenandoah, the fleeing driver zig-zagged Shenandoah streets, leading police on West Coal, the wrong way up North West Street, and onto South Gilbert Street, where the pursuit ended with a collision into a parked truck outside 13 South Gilbert Street.

Thomas Zimmerman, 13 South Gilbert Street, was taken into custody and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer. He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $2,500 cash bail on charges of fleeing and eluding police, reckless endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, and a multitude of traffic violations.

Assisting at the scene were Shenandoah and Mahanoy Township Police.
