Pickup truck strikes Country Tile in South Tamaqua; driver flown to hospital

SOUTH TAMAQUA – One person was flown to a trauma center after a pickup truck struck Country Tile here Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened at the shop on Route 309 south of Tamaqua proper around 4:30pm.
Tamaqua Police at the scene said the Dodge pickup truck was travelling north on Route 309 towards Tamaqua and veered off the road, striking the wall of Country Tile and ending up about 10 feet inside the establishment.
The driver was injured and taken to the area of Leiby’s Restaurant in West Penn Township, to an awaiting Geisinger LifeFlight helicopter.
