No tax increase in tentative Shen. Valley budget

SHENANDOAH – Taxes most likely will remain steady in the Shenandoah Valley School District for the seventh year in a row.

The school board approved the tentative 2023-24 operating budget at Wednesday’s meeting.

The budget, balanced at $24,060,128, keeps real estate taxes at 56.975 mills.

Taxes were last raised for the 2016-17 school year.

Shared real estate taxes and wage taxes remain at 1%. A $5 local services tax, $5 per ton tax for fly ash disposal, and a 5% tax on culm processing also remain.

Shenandoah Valley’s property tax rate remains the second highest in Schuylkill County, only behind Panther Valley’s rate of 60.69 mills.

The budget will be brought up for final approval at May’s meeting.
