National Guard assisting at Ridgeview; facility mum on details
SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – The Pennsylvania National Guard is assisting an area nursing home which, to date, has had no coronavirus case data publicly available.
The Pennsylvania National Guard confirmed to the Sentinel Tuesday morning that a staffing support mission began yesterday at the Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Shenandoah Heights.
“The support team consists of about 15 soldiers and airmen including a registered nurse, medics and general support members,” Lt. Col. Keith Hickox, state public affairs officer for the National Guard, said in an email. “Since April, the Pennsylvania National Guard has conducted nearly 25 staffing support missions at long-term care facilities throughout Pennsylvania. These missions are initially planned for about a week and extended based on the need.”
The Commonwealth Department of Health publishes coronavirus case totals for long term care facilities weekly, and, to date, Ridgeview’s listing has shown “No data” for each release.
Attempts to reach the facility for further information have been unsuccessful.
