Man rescued from roof of burning Ringtown building
RINGTOWN – Fire ripped through a garage and adjacent home in this borough early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters from across northern Schuylkill County and beyond were called to 23 North Center Street for the garage fire just after 1:30am.
Shortly after the arrival of Ringtown Valley firefighters, a second alarm was struck, and a tanker task force was requested.
“We had a guy on the roof, but we got him down early [into the firefight],” Ringtown Valley Fire Chief Joseph Gilbert told the Sentinel.
Gilbert said no injuries were reported in the blaze. One woman was displaced in the fire.
Firefighters had the blaze under control within about an hour, but not before extensive damage was done to the garage and adjoining house.
Crews from Shenandoah, Nuremberg-Weston, Sheppton-Oneida, Mahanoy City, Wilburton, Frackville, Shenandoah Heights, Ryan Township, Hometown, Aristes, and more assisted Ringtown Valley firefighters at the scene.
Shenandoah Ambulance and Shenandoah Police also responded.
