Mahanoy Plane man identified as Gold Star crash victim

GILBERTON – A Mahanoy Plane man was identified as the victim of a fatal accident between Frackville and Gilberton this afternoon, Frackville Police said.
According to borough police Chief Rick Bell, Jason Naspinsky, 37, of Mahanoy Plane, was killed in the two-vehicle crash around 12:37pm Tuesday near the rock wall area of the Gold Star Highway.
Emergency services from Frackville, Gilberton, Mahanoy Plane, and Shenandoah responded to the scene at that time, finding three people injured.
Bell said a black Honda Accord, driven by Naspinsky, was travelling south on Route 924 towards Frackville when it lost control, fishtailed, and crossed the median, where it was struck head-on by a Buick SUV.
Naspinsky was found heavily trapped in the Accord and was pronounced dead at the scene by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Andrew Szczyglak. A female passenger, whose identity has not been confirmed, was taken to an awaiting medical helicopter in Shenandoah and airlifted to Geisinger Medical Center in Montour County with serious injuries,
The female operator of the Buick also had to be extricated by fire crews from her vehicle, and was taken to another awaiting helicopter in Shenandoah and flown to Montour County.
Route 924 from Gilberton to Frackville was closed until 2:55pm as police investigated.
