DELANO – A Mahanoy City woman is facing animal cruelty charges after state troopers found a pair of dogs abandoned in an abandoned Delano home Tuesday morning.
According to State Police at Frackville, troopers were called to a residence at 28 Walnut Street in Delano for reports of dogs left in an abandoned residence.
Troopers arrived to find a pair of dogs left with no food or water, and signs of malnourishment. The residence was also “overrun with fecal matter,” troopers said.
As a result, Patti Herring, 30, of Mahanoy City faces charges of neglect for animals, filed with Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker, Shenandoah.
The Hillside SPCA near Pottsville took custody of the pair, and Delano Township code enforcement condemned the residence.
