HS BASKETBALL: Spartans outlast Raiders

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – The North Schuylkill Spartans boys’ squad outlasted a late-game charge by Tamaqua to win 64-61 Saturday afternoon.
North Schuylkill entered the game 3-10, while Tamaqua stood at 3-18.

The game was a rematch of Thursday, when Tamaqua hosted the Spartans and won 66-53.
The Spartans took an early lead in Saturday’s bout, and held that lead throughout. At one point in the third quarter, the Spartans led 26-13.

Tamaqua, though, wasn’t going down without a fight.
The Spartans lead eroded as time wound down, but Tamaqua would fall short, with North Schuylkill capturing the 64-61 victory.
