HS BASKETBALL: Bears dominate, double Wms. Valley, 90-45

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Mahanoy Area's #21 Brady Alansky jumps for a layup.
POTTSVILLE – Mahanoy Area continued their winning ways Saturday afternoon with a dominant performance unseen in the District XI 2A bracket in decades, if ever.
The now 25-0 Golden Bears’ 90-point performance at Martz Hall over Williams Valley was the highest single-team score in the District XI 2A tournament since at least 2004-05 and the team’s highest score of the season.

They had eclipsed 80 points just twice this season, against Lourdes and Weatherly, but hadn’t hit 90.
Saturday’s game was well in-hand throughout with the Bears leading 18-11 at the end of one, and 42-17 at the halftime break.
High-flying contributions from Jace Yedsena, Kadin Styka, and Brady Alansky helped keep the momentum in Mahanoy’s favor as the lead continued to grow.

Mahanoy’s reserves were given playing time in the fourth and continued the effort, including a dunk by Junior Damian Contreras to cap off the day’s scoring with a 90-45 final.
The Bears move on to face Tri-Valley in the semifinal on Wednesday at 7:30pm at Martz Hall with a berth in the District XI final on the line
