Gladski appointed to West Mahanoy supervisors
SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – With one incumbent supervisor winning both the six-year and four-year seats up for election in November, West Mahanoy supervisors had a vacant seat to fill at Tuesday night’s reorganization meeting.
Michael Kayes was elected to both open seats and opted to take the six-year seat, leaving the four-year seat open.
Prior to vacating the board for the reorganization meeting, Kayes and Supervisors Chairman Paul “Pepper” Martin voted to appoint Tony Gladski to fill the open four-year seat.
Kayes and Gladski were sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker, along with elected auditor Rod Knittle.
They then vacated the board, with Township Secretary/Treasurer Michael Michalik presiding and asking for a nomination for board chairman.
Supervisors nominated and re-elected Martin to that post, with Kayes being elected to vice-chairman.
Supervisors also retained Jim Amato as solicitor, Michalik as secretary/treasurer, Marvin Livergood as Zoning Officer, and ARRO as engineers.
The township’s part-time police officers, part-time clerk, and part-time code enforcement officer all received $.50/hr raises as well.
