Firefighters called for chimney fire in Weston

WESTON, Luzerne County – No damage was reported after firefighters were called to a home in this Black Creek Township village for a chimney fire early Friday morning.

Crews were called to the 600 block of Hazle Street in Weston for a reported chimney fire around 1:00am.

Nuremberg-Weston firefighters made quick work of the incident, with fire officials saying that the home was not damaged at all, and that they cleaned the chimney out.

The homeowner had just returned from an out-of-state trip when the oil burner malfunctioned, sparking the fire.

Firefighters from across northern Schuylkill and southern Luzerne Counties were called to the scene, most of whom were cancelled on the way.

Also responding was Sugarloaf and Shenandoah Ambulance.
