Fire destroys Fern Glen trailer home

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - A trio of firefighters look on as crews battle a fire at a trailer home in Fern Glen.
FERN GLEN, Luzerne County – A trailer home was destroyed by fire in this Black Creek Township village Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters from northern Schuylkill and southern Luzerne counties were called to 1504 Tomhicken Road around 2:40pm for a reported trailer fire.
Nuremberg-Weston firefighters arrived to find an unoccupied trailer home well-involved.

Chief Joe Lescowitch, Nuremberg-Weston, said the home had recently been sold and the fire was discovered as yard work was being done around the house.
“I’d say it was probably about a 60-year-old house trailer,” Lescowitch said. “It was fully-involved when we got here. What you see left are the two endcaps. Everything else was on fire when we pulled in.”

No one was hurt, he said.
His fire company was assisted at the scene by Valley Regional, Hazle Township, Sugarloaf, and Sheppton, along with Valley Regional and Sugarloaf EMS.
