Fire damages Minersville’s DiNicola Mansion
MINERSVILLE – A historic Minersville building was damaged by fire Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters from Minersville and surrounding communities were called to the DiNicola Mansion at Sunbury and Front Streets around 3:00pm for a reported fire.
Arriving first responders found smoke coming from the upper floors of the large home.
The incident was upgraded to a second alarm, bringing firefighters from Frackville, Llewellyn, and Schuylkill Haven to the scene to assist Minersville and Pottsville firefighters.
Minersville Fire Chief Eric Eichenberg told the Sentinel no one was hurt in the blaze, and the fire is under investigation.
He added that the fire broke out in the second floor, and five adults and three children are displaced and will be assisted by the American Red Cross.
Residents said they had pet cats, though Eichenberg was unaware of if any pets were in the home at the time of the fire, or their status.
Paramedics from Tremont, Schuylkill EMS, and Minersville assisted, as did Minersville and Branch-Reilly Police.
While that firefight was ongoing, Pottsville firefighters handled a second call, a vehicle fire on North Centre Street.
