Fire damages McAdoo church rectory
McADOO – A fire that damaged a McAdoo church rectory and displaced seven people Tuesday night is under investigation.
The fire broke out in the basement of the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church rectory on Blaine Street around 11pm.
Firefighters from McAdoo, Hometown, and Hazle Township responded, along with Mahanoy City’s Rapid Intervention Team, which was cancelled en route.
Crews had the fire brought under control within about half an hour.
McAdoo Fire Chief Robert Leshko said the cause of the fire remains under investigation and a State Police fire marshal will be on scene Wednesday morning.
No injuries were reported, but Leshko said the seven residents of the rectory are displaced and will be staying in Hazleton.
