Donations supporting upcoming free Thanksgiving dinner in Frackville
FRACKVILLE – The Frackville Police Department and St. Joseph the Worker Parish are both hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner here in a few weeks, and an update was provided at Wednesday’s council meeting.
The department said donations from the community have nearly covered the cost for the dinner and 70 people have already pre-registered.
Mayor Kim Phillips said the event is a community outreach event for the police force.
“It’s an opportunity to spend time with the police department, get to know the police department,” Phillips said. “It gives everybody the opportunity to spend some time and see what the police are doing and to be able to have fellowship.”
Phillips said she believed the police department was doing an “excellent job.”
It will be held on Nov. 19 from 3pm to 6pm at the St. Joseph Parish Hall at 11 South Broad Mountain Avenue.
The department says there will be activities and treats for children as well, and the dinner is open to the entire community.
Pre-registration is required, and should be done by Nov. 12 through the police department Facebook page, texting or calling 570-617-9085, or emailing [email protected].
