Dollar General reopens at Turkey Run
TURKEY RUN – The Shenandoah area has a Dollar General store again.
The location at the Gold Star Plaza in the Turkey Run section of town reopened this month, two months after the first steel beams were placed for the new building.
Flames wrecked the store in April of last year and the wreckage was removed in August as crews prepped for a rebuild.
That rebuild began in November and progressed rapidly, with job listings going up around the New Year.
According to Dollar General’s website, the store is open every day 8am to 9pm.
The original store was built in 2001 shortly after the Gold Star Plaza itself was built, joining Blockbuster and Advanced Auto Parts at the time as outparcels at the shopping center. Blockbuster has since closed and is now a rent-to-own furniture store.
Though, while the Greater Shenandoah area was without a Dollar General for just under a year, there is no shortage of the Tennessee-based retailer’s locations in the northern Schuylkill County area.
They also have locations in Mahanoy City, Ashland, Ringtown, Barnesville, Lavelle, McAdoo, Humboldt, and Mount Carmel, among others. The retailer has also attempted to build stores in the Altamont section of Frackville and in Sheppton, both of which were not approved.
