Crash near Ashland injures Mt. Carmel man
CONYNGHAM TWP., Columbia County – A 19-year-old from Mt. Carmel suffered minor injuries after a crash last night near Ashland.
The crash happened around 1:00am in the area of Snake Road and Memorial Boulevard, between Ashland and Centralia in Conyngham Township, according to State Police at Bloomsburg.
Troopers said Christian Castellano, 19, of Mt. Carmel was driving a 2001 Ford Focus east on Snake Road towards Memorial Boulevard when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection.
Castellano’s Focus traveled through the intersection and across Memorial Boulevard, striking an embankment.
The vehicle was disabled and towed from the scene.
Castellano was treated at the scene by Aristes QRS and taken to Geisinger Shamokin for treatment of minor injuries. His passenger, 26-year-old Shawn Spotts, of Mt. Carmel, was uninjured and walked home from the scene, troopers said.
Firefighters from Aristes and Centralia responded to the scene along with medics from Area Services and Ashland’s Washington Fire Company.
