Coaldale man charged for marking down, purchasing items at Hometown Walmart

HOMETOWN – A Coaldale man is facing a retail theft charge after state troopers say he marked merchandise down at Walmart in Hometown and paid for it at the lower price.
According to State Police at Frackville, the incident occurred last night around 6:30pm, when asset protection personnel at the store observed the man, identified as Paul Weirich, 32, of Coaldale, marking merchandise down.
After Weirich purchased the items for the lower price, asset protection personnel detained him.
State Police filed a felony retail theft charge against Weirich for the act, and he was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and committed to county prison on $2,500 bail.
