Chimney issue prompts fire response in St. Clair
SAINT CLAIR – Fire crews were called to a bank-turned-home here Wednesday evening for a reported fire.
Fire crews were called just after 7:00pm to 39 North Second Street in Saint Clair as police spotted smoke coming from the former Citizens Bank, which is now occupied as a residence.
Saint Clair and Pottsville firefighters responded to the scene and ladders were deployed and sent to the roof of the building.
Fire officials at the scene said the heavy amount of smoke seen was coming from the chimney, which is hidden from view from the roadway.
Crews investigated to be certain there was no fire.
Officials said the incident caused no damage to the building, and they were clear of the scene in short order.
