BREAKING: PSP engaged in standoff with ‘armed individual’ in Hazleton

HAZLETON, Luzerne County – Several law enforcement agencies are engaged in a standoff with an “armed individual” at the Beech Street playground in this city at this hour.
Police pursued a white tractor trailer from Schuylkill County to and through Luzerne County before the pursuit ended behind a baseball field.
A Shelter in Place order is in effect for the neighborhood west of Filmore Street.
State troopers from Frackville and Hazleton are on scene along with city police and U.S. Marshals are at the scene.
Trooper Anthony Petroski told media at the scene that the state police Special Emergency Response Team is at work, and authorities are dealing with an “armed individual” in a tractor trailer.
Witnesses said the truck struck a parked Honda before the pursuit ended.
A state police helicopter has been circling the scene for hours.
