SHENANDOAH – A Chester County man is in Schuylkill County Prison after Shenandoah Police say he had a stolen car and led officers on a foot pursuit on the southside this morning.
Just after midnight Wednesday, police saw a tan-colored vehicle entering the Turkey Hill in downtown Shenandoah, of which patrol officers ran the registration. The search showed the vehicle was reported stolen from Coatesville, Chester County.
Patrol officers William Moyer and Travis Bowman stopped the vehicle at West Cherry and South Gilbert Streets, where the driver, later identified as Tyler Keith Fountain, 24, of Coatesville, exited the vehicle.
Officers commanded the man to show his hands and get on the ground. He kept his hands in the air, though, slammed the door shut, and fled west on Cherry Street.
Fountain was subsequently caught a few blocks away at South Catherine and West Oak.
The stolen vehicle was towed to an impound lot by Steve’s Towing, Shenandoah.
Fountain was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge James Reilly on charges of receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and summary vehicle code violations. He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 bail.
