KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - New fence posts are seen at Girard Park on Dec. 8, 2020. Little has occurred on the site since.

SHENANDOAH – Thanks to an additional grant funding boost, a new pavilion will be added to the ongoing improvement project at Girard Park.

Borough Council approved the acceptance of an additional $50,000 grant for the park project.

Borough Manager Tony Sajone said the grant has no match, and is “free and clear.”

Councilman Leo Pietkiewicz stressed that the grant is only able to be used for the park project.

Council approved the addition of the funding to the park project’s Phase I, as well as the purchase of a pavilion for $17,890 via COSTARS.

Additionally, council approved negotiating with the contractor for the cost of construction, not to exceed $27,600.
