SHENANDOAH – Two schools, rivals on the gridiron, came together Friday night to recognize its seniors in marching band, football, cheerleading, and, for Mahanoy Area, cross country.
Mahanoy Area was slated to have their senior appreciation ceremony at their last home game of the season, which was cancelled at the last minute as a result of Marian’s surprise forfeiture of their season.
A ceremony was then scheduled for 6:00pm the day of that game, until Shenandoah Valley administration reached out to Mahanoy’s offering to recognize their seniors when Shenandoah hosted Mahanoy for football.
Flanked by Shenandoah and Mahanoy cheerleaders, seniors from both schools made their way down the 50 yard line with family members to be recognized for their achievements and participation in fall activities.
At halftime, another combination occurred. As is an annual tradition, the two marching bands joined forces for a combined field show.
