SHENANDOAH – It isn’t quite Christmas season until Santa jumps out of the plane, now is it?

Well, he’s set to do so again this year on Black Friday, Nov. 29, for the 13th year hosted by Mrs. T’s Pierogies.

A Shenandoah tradition dating back decades, the event kicks off the holiday season. The event was originally hosted by the Greater Shenandoah Chamber of Commerce, and was discontinued for years before Mrs. T’s revived the event.

The event is held at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Shenandoah’s West End. Gates open at 10:30am, and Santa parachutes into the stadium around noon. Depending on weather, he may arrive via helicopter or fire truck.

Following his arrival, he will parade through Shenandoah atop the Polish American Fire Co.’s antique Seagrave fire engine, as part of the annual Shenandoah Christmas Parade.

The first 200 children to attend the event will receive a free gift from Mrs. T’s, and Mrs. Claus, Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer will greet attendees as well.
