Ringtown Library to celebrate National Library Week
RINGTOWN – The Ringtown Library is commemorating National Library Week next week.
April 4-10, 2021 is National Library Week, a time to highlight the essential role libraries play in transforming lives and strengthening communities.
The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Welcome to Your Library,” which promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and that everyone is welcome to use their services.
Whether people visit virtually or in person, libraries are accessible and inclusive places that foster a sense of belonging and community through learning, discovery and exploration.
The Ringtown Area Library embodies this spirit by offering a backyard StoryWalk ® from April 5 – 10 featuring the book “Where is the Green Sheep” by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek and a new all-ages Scavenger Hunt for the month of April.
Sixteen gold books will be hidden around the Ringtown Valley from April 5 – 30. Visit the library and tell them any book title you found and choose a free book. Find all 16 books and receive a bonus prize. Limit 1 free book per person.
The Ringtown Library will also commemorate Remake Learning Days Across America in May.
Remake Learning Days Across America is an innovative learning festival of events happening in over 17
regions across the country.
The Ringtown Area Library will participate in the Central PA festival on Saturday, May 15 with a “Reach for the Stars Field Day” at the Ringtown Recreation Complex.
The outer space themed event is open and free to all and features family friendly activities designed for PreK-5th grade students.
Visitors will enjoy two StoryWalks ® including “Sun! One in a billion” by Stacy McAnulty & Stevie Lewis and “Me and my place in space” by Joan Sweeney & Christine Gore, as well as explore the vast scale of our solar system with a Jumping to Jupiter activity, and have opportunities to create art with help from the sun’s UV rays.
The event will take place over the span of the park, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk. Every child in attendance will receive a free book about space topics.
