Brooklyn man strikes mailbox in Harwood, flees

HARWOOD, Luzerne County – A Brooklyn, New York man hit a mailbox in this Hazle Township village and fled on foot, state police at Hazleton said.

Troopers said the incident happened around 7:00am Monday in the area of 1327 Harwood Road.

Troopers said Harinson Cruz-Perez, 28, of Brooklyn, was headed east on Harwood Road and lost control of his 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Cruz-Perez then struck the mailbox and front step of 1327 Harwood Road.

When his vehicle came to a rest, he exited and fled on foot, last seen headed east on Harwood Road.

Troopers identified him as the driver, and he will be cited for the incident.
