Ashland woman seriously injured in North’d crash
GOWEN CITY, Northumberland County – An Ashland woman was flown to a Montour County hospital for treatment after a crash in this West Cameron Township village Saturday evening.
State Police at Stonington said the crash happened just before 8:00pm on Lower Road near Steelers Lane.
Troopers said 74-year-old Eleanor J. Chappell, 74, of Ashland, was headed west on Lower Road when her 2017 Subaru Outback veered to the left.
The vehicle traveled across the opposing lane, off the side of the roadway, through dense brush and trees before hitting a tree head on 120 feet into the woodlands.
The vehicle was disabled, and Chappell suffered suspected serious injuries, troopers said.
She was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville via Life Flight for treatment.
Assisting State Police at the scene were Trevorton firefighters, Area Services EMS, and Jeff’s Towing.
