FRACKVILLE – Frackville Borough Police will be adjusting how they respond to calls as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Borough Police issued a media release Tuesday, noting that all non-emergency calls for service will be handled by phone wherever possible.

“The Frackville Police Department will continue 24/7 coverage. However, some departmental changes will be implemented for the duration of the crisis,” Chief Rick Bell said in a media release. “To continue to provide a safe environment for all involved, we will practice limited direct social interaction whenever possible.”

For some calls, if an officer has to respond in person, the caller will be asked to meet them outside.

Additionally, all emergency calls will be responded to immediately, Bell said, and the borough police station is restricted to “essential police personnel.”

“We ask for your patience in this time of chaos. We will continue to serve the residents of Frackville to the best of our ability and also follow the guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. We will continue to monitor the situation,” Bell said.”
