FRACKVILLE – Northern Schuylkill County may finally have a public pool again this summer.

The construction of the new Frackville Pool is ongoing. The borough is currently looking for a pool manager, concession stand workers, and lifeguards.

“It’s probably about 20% completed,” borough solicitor Mark Semanchik told the Sentinel regarding the pool and the poolhouse. “Based on the mild weather, we’re expecting that there’s going to be a lot of activity over the next 45 days.”

Semanchik said that the borough hopes to have the pool completed and ready to open by Memorial Day.

The pool, originally built in 1978, has been closed for about five years or so after repairs became immediately necessary. Instead of repairing the aging pool, the borough chose to replace it completely.

Since then, several fundraisers, including a brick sale, were held to cover the cost of the pool, and several grants were received as well.
