Police Log, 3/4/2026

NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a collection of police incidents reported by local law enforcement agencies in our region.

Vehicle Crash

SHENANDOAH – A Hazleton man was cited after state troopers say he lost control and hit two cars on a snowy February day in town.

State Police at Frackville said the crash happened around 5:30am Feb. 8.

Alexander Perez Rodriguez, 21, of Hazleton, was heading west on West Coal Street in a 2012 Subaru Impreza.

Troopers said he was driving too fast on snowy conditions and struck a legally parked Jeep, pushing it into a parked Chevrolet Impala.

His Subaru was disabled and towed by JRL Towing and troopers said he was cited for the crash.

Vehicle Crash

DRUMS – No injuries were reported after state troopers say a local police officer stopped in the road before backing into another car.

The crash happened around 8am Feb. 22 on East Butler Drive in Butler Township, Luzerne County.

State Police at Hazleton said a Butler Township police cruiser, a 2022 Ford Police Interceptor Utility, was headed westbound with a 2024 Lincoln behind him.

The cruiser stopped in the roadway and the Lincoln stopped as a result, troopers said.

The cruiser then backed into the Lincoln. State troopers did not say why the cruiser stopped or backed up.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage. The township officer will not be cited, troopers said.

Criminal Mischief

GIRARDVILLE – State troopers are investigating what they called an act of criminal mischief and criminal trespass here over the ewekend.

State Police at Frackville said they were called to a home on Preston Avenue in the borough around 1pm Saturday .

There, troopers said someone entered a vacant home and ripped up a sheet of plywood, damaging it.

Theft

TUSCARORA – State troopers are investigating the theft of copper pipe from a coal company in Schuylkill Township.

State Police at Frackville said they were called to the Char-PAC Coal Co. near Tuscarora on Feb. 15 for a report of a theft.

Troopers said 200 feet of copper pipe was swiped from the property between Feb. 13 and Feb. 15.

Burglary

BARNESVILLE – State troopers are investigating a reported burglary in the Rush Township section of Barnesville.

State Police at Frackville said they were called to an attempted burglary at two homes on Pine Creek Drive, Route 54, in Rush Township around 4pm Feb. 23.

There, someone broke into a detached garage and swiped various hand and air tools worth $700.

Vehicle Crash

EAST MINES – A Chester County man was cited after state troopers said he ran a red light, striking a car driven by a Port Carbon woman head-on near Saint Clair last month.

State Police at Schuylkill Haven released information last week on the crash.

Troopers said the crash happened on Route 61 at Mall Drive in East Norwegian Township.

Cornell Deuber, 35, of Spring City, was heading southbound in the left lane of Route 61 in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado approaching a red light, troopers said.

A 75-year-old Port Carbon woman was headed north on Route 61 in the left turn lane with a green arrow and proceeded to turn.

Deuber struck her vehicle head-on, running the red light, troopers alleged.

Neither driver was injured. Deuber was cited, troopers said.
