Model railroad society holds open house
HAZLETON – This weekend and next weekend, you can check out a model train display in the Hazleton area.
The Anthracite Model Railroad Society is holding their annual summertime open house. Doors open Sunday, July 20 at noon until 5pm.
The display will also be open Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27 from noon until 5pm.
It’s located at 1056 Hanover Court in Hazle Township, just outside the city, a few blocks east of the Hazleton Area school campus.
Thomas the Tank Engine trains will be running on July 20 and normal trains will be running July 26 and 27.
Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
According to their website, the layout is about 2,000 square feet and has 1,200 feet of track on two levels, depicting the Lehigh River, industrial areas, a Jim Thorpe and Hazleton-esque scene, and more.
