Walmart unveils redesign at Coal Township

COAL TOWNSHIP – Another Walmart in our area has been overhauled, and the company cut the ribbon Friday morning.
“This remodel reflects our commitment to providing quality products at everyday low prices while enhancing the overall shopping experience,” said Brandon Gauger, Store Manager of the Coal Township Walmart. “A big thank you to our dedicated associates, and our store leadership teams for their support during the renovation.”
Twelve associates who have been at the store near Kulpmont since day one in 1997 were recognized: Brenda Shevitski, Lisa Hepler, Gary Stepp, Douglas Lilly, Robin Bucher, Don Schwartz, Judy Sodrick, Helen Troutman, Joann Protheroe, Dan Gula, Sue Bell and Brenda Leshinskie. Seven others have been with the company for more than 25 years: Lisa Alleman, Tina Katalinas, Denise Kripplebauer, Joan Kufro, Tommy Urbanowicz, Sharon Wilson and Melissa Wondoloski.
During the celebration, store leaders and associates highlighted the transformation as well as new features, including displays, digital touchpoints, and a reconfigured store layout.
Walmart also awarded $6,000 in grant funds — $3,000 to Line Mountain Schools and $3,000 to the Ralpho Township Library in Elysburg.
Finally, Walmart unveiled a new community mural designed by Kristin Amelia. It depicts fireworks over the township and a football game between Shamokin and Mount Carmel, the Coal Bucket game dating back to 1908. It’s part of Walmart’s Community Mural Program.
