J.W. Cooper Center Volunteers meet, discuss donations, scholarship, vandalism, security
SHENANDOAH – The J.W. Cooper Community Center donated $275 to the Shenandoah Borough Police Department earlier this month toward the purchase of body-mounted cameras for borough police officers. The donation was among a multitude of topics discussed at the monthly volunteers meeting for the center, held at the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society, Shenandoah. Ten volunteers attended the meeting on Thursday evening.
Topics Discussed
- Donations – The J.W. Cooper Center is continuing to make monthly donations to the Shenandoah Area Free Public Library.
- Vandalism – A volunteer reported windows in the rear of the building have been shot out, either by a firearm or a pellet gun.
- Penn State Scholarship Program – The J.W. Cooper Center is working in conjunction with Penn State to create a scholarship program for Shenandoah students.
- Volunteers – Volunteers are needed to complete the Youth Center, and for Logistical and Secretarial Personnel
- Annual Golf Tournament – The date is set for August 11th, 2017 at the Schuylkill Country Club.
