No tax increase expected in 2024, but sewer and trash rates are going up
SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah Borough Council approved the tentative 2024 budget and advertising three ordinances at Monday night’s council meeting.
The 2024 budget has revenues and expenditures of $2.6 Million and holds the line on taxes.
It will be formally approved at a special meeting on Dec. 28.
Borough Manager Tony Sajone said increases requested by the fire department and a stipend requested by Shenandoah Ambulance are still under consideration.
Council also approved advertising three ordinances, increasing trash and sewer rates and adding a tax on skill machines.
Trash rates are increasing to $352 per year, or $176 every six months, up from $332 per year.
Sewer rates will be $572 per year, or $143 per quarter, up from $135 per quarter last year.
A tax will also be adopted on gambling machines in town at $250 per gambling machine.
These ordinances will be formally adopted at a later meeting.
