Donations sought for Mahanoy woman, fire co. member, battling cancer; basket raffle set for July

MAHANOY CITY – A basket raffle is scheduled for this July to benefit a Mahanoy City woman who is battling breast cancer.

Kelly Killian, a devoted member of the Humane Fire Co., was diagnosed recently with an aggressive form of breast cancer, according to the fire company, and has to receive weekly treatments of chemotherapy. She will also undergo surgery in July.

Killian and her family, the firehouse said, are very active in the community and fire company.

A basket raffle has been scheduled at the firehouse, in conjunction with McNiff’s Pub, for Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16.

Saturday is a preview day from 4pm to 8pm, and the auction is Sunday from noon to 4pm. Prizes will be awarded at 4pm.

Food and drinks will also be available for purchase, courtesy of McNiff’s.

Donations of themed baskets and gift cards are being accepted for that raffle. Those donations can be either dropped off or mailed to Kathy Wall at 106 West Spruce Street in Mahanoy City.

Anyone with questions is asked to call or email Wall at 570-773-2223, 570-778-6961, or at [email protected].
