Woman murdered on South Catherine

SHENANDOAH – A homicide investigation is underway into the stabbing death of a 37-year-old woman on the southside Sunday morning.
Deputy Coroner Andrew Szczyglak pronounced the woman dead at 6:40am.
She was found in the 100 block of South Catherine Street. Her name has not yet been released.

Further details are few, though, well into the morning, the State Police Troop L Major Case Unit remained on scene conducting their investigation.
The 100 block of North Catherine from Oak to Atlantic was closed for the investigation
Police tape also surrounded a home at 40 South Catherine Street, as well.

Assisting State Police at the scene were officers from Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, and Frackville, as well as the Schuylkill County Detectives.
The investigation is being handled by State Police.
