FRACKVILLE – A McAdoo woman created quite a messy situation at the Magisterial District Court near Frackville last week.
Shirl Moody, of Center Street in McAdoo, is facing misdemeanor criminal mischief and vandalism charges for the incident last Wednesday at Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli’s courtroom.
Butler Township Police Patrolman John C. Kaczmarczyk filed the criminal complaint Wednesday.
According to the complaint, officers were called to the courtroom on August 20 after feces had been discovered on the floor of the lobby and on the exterior of the building.
Moody, police said, had been at the office earlier for an unrelated matter.
Surveillance footage showed Moody arrive, walk to the exterior of the building, lifting the back of her dress near where the feces were later discovered.
She then went inside the courtroom and directly to the restroom before speaking to courtroom staff, police said.
The surveillance footage also showed feces were not present before, but were present immediately after her visit. She did not mention the mess or any need for assistance to the court staff, police said.
A contractor was called in to clean the mess at a cost of $1,500.
Moody had been at the courtroom to pay a fine for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive her vehicle, online court documents show.
A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 2 before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker in Shenandoah.
Cases in Butler Township are normally heard before Tarantelli, though his district court is considered a victim in the case.
