Winter Storm Watch for Sunday snowfall; Shenandoah, Mahanoy announce snow bans
SHENANDOAH – Two local communities have announced snow bans ahead of a potential winter storm this weekend.
The National Weather Service at State College issued a Winter Storm Watch for Schuylkill County, expecting four to six inches of snow from Sunday morning through Sunday evening.
A snow ban will be in place in Shenandoah beginning at 9am Sunday until 9am Monday.
No parking will be permitted downtown, on Main Street from Washington to Laurel and on Centre Street from White to West.
All cars must be moved by 9am Sunday or they will be ticketed and towed, police said.
Mahanoy City Police announced a snow ban for the same timeframe.
There, parking is prohibited on Centre, Main, Liberty Hill, and South Streets.
Vehicles that aren’t moved can incur a $100 fine and be towed.
