Wildfire smoke drifts to Schuylkill County, creates vibrant sunset

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – An eerie shot of this evening’s sunset, captured by our photographer along Cemetery Road in this West Mahanoy Township village.
The sun is a much brighter and vivid red than normal as the smoke from wildfires blazing in the western part of the country has drifted over east-central Pennsylvania. If you’ve noticed a largely hazy condition the past few days, that is why.
