West Mahanoy supervisors seek bids for road, stormwater improvements
SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – Township supervisors here are seeking bids for several road improvement projects, as well as a project to deal with stormwater runoff at Ohio Avenue and Norton Way.
Supervisors approved advertising for bids for both projects at Tuesday night’s regular meeting.
The stormwater project will use American Rescue Plan funds and supervisors hope it will alleviate runoff issues which have caused an ice hazard in the wintertime.
For the 2024 road program, supervisors are looking to repave the following streets:
- Seneca Street from Indiana to Florida, Shen. Heights;
- Seneca Street from Arizona to Texas, Shen. Heights;
- Indiana Avenue from Seneca to Norton, Shen. Heights;
- Fine Street from Line to Wylam, Altamont;
- Spencer Street from 25′ north of Chestnut Street to Morea Road, Altamont.
If funds allow, supervisors may also repave Spencer Street from Willow to Chestnut in Altamont and Wyoming from California to Texas in Shenandoah Heights.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, supervisors said that a permit had been received for a fireworks display at the Jakes Fireworks plant in Altamont.
